Elvis sang; “The whole rhythm section was the Purple Gang”. There really was a Purple Gang. Mobsters from Detroit, who hung out at Verniers in Chesterfield Twp, MI. So, when Queen Max, wanted to form a Red Hat Society Chapter, The Purple Gang was a natural. Though, not mobsters, ladies of a certain age just want to have fun.
